RB Vent Flashcards

1
Q

What is the purpose of the RB Vent System?

A

TO provide protection to plant personnel and equipment from extreme thermal conditions
Max of 103 when outsed temp is 95
Min of 65F when outside temp is -6F

Q

What are the control requirements for the RB Vent System?

A

Vent air flow shall be routed from areas of lesser to greater contamination prior to final exhaust. With reverse flow prevented by dampers.
AND
DP of ~0.25in H2O shall be maintained between clean areas and areas having gratest contamination, AND between RB and outside environment

Q

What are the trips for the RB Vent Fans?

A

Any butterfly damper NOT FULL OPEN - Trips ALL fans
Supply Fans trip on RB Press TOO HI (can’t take more air) - +2.2”WC
Exhaust Fan Trip on RB Press TOO LO (Exhaust faster than supply) - -2.7”WC

Q

WHat is the purpose of the Isolation Dampers?

How do they fail?

A

They isolate the RB Vent under abnormal conditons:
Normally operated via IA. On loss of IA, each damper has a failsafe accumulator which provides a volume of air to close the isolation damper.
When air pressure drops to <67psig, mech versa valve repositions, allowing accumulator pressure on operating piston of damper to close damper

13
Q

What does a Group II Isolation do to RB Vent, why?

A

Closes All dampers, which trips Fans. SBGT auto starts

14
Q

Why must the Dampers be separately reset following a Group 2 Isoaltion?

A

If C/S were last placed to OPEN and reset p/b pressed after isolation, dampers will go OPEN as soon as button is pushed. Must take c/s to CLOSE prior to resetting or may lose -0.25”WC on secondary containment

15
Q

Where do the Radiation Elements take indication off of for RB Vent?

A

Located on exhaust ductwork prior to isoaltion dampers (after SBGT tie in)

16
Q

What is the purpose of the 2252-24 panel and what powers it?

A

Provides local controls for various RB Vent system components that are normally controlled from MCR.
Powered from 125vdc RB Dist Bus

17
Q

What happens to RB Vent on LOW FLOW through a running fan?

A

Fan will trip and standby fan will auto start to maintain configuration of 2 supply and 2 exhaust fans

AUTOSTART FAN will NOT TRIP ON LOW FLOW (TRIP BP until C/s taken to NAC)

18
Q

What happens to RB Vent on loss of 125VDC RB Dist Panel?

A

Loss of power to trip circuitry and 2252-24 (local panel) - causes all 4 isolation dampers to close
Loss of trip circuitry would cause fans to not auto trip- local trip required

19
Q

What are teh RB Vent Isolation Signals?

A

GRP 2 PCIS
+8” Level
2#DW
30R/hr DW Rad

PRM
4mR/hr RBV Rad
45mR/hr Refuel Floor Rad

20
Q

What are conditions required for Supply Fan Auto Start?

A

Dampers Open, Low flow through running fan AND RB Air pressure not HI (<2.2”WC)
(LO FLOW NOT REQUIRED FOR MAN START - OTHER TWO ARE)

21
Q

What are conditions required for Exhaust Fan Auto Start?

A

Damper Open, Lo flow through running fan and RB Air Pressure not LO (>-2.7”WC)
(LO FLOW NOT REQUIRED FOR MAN START - OTHER TWO ARE)
