What are attributions
-Reasons given for the causes of success and failure
What are the 4 types of attributions
-Ability
-Task difficulty
-Effort
-Luck
What is the locus of causality
-Splits attributions into internal and external
-Internal = Ability and Effort
-External = task difficulty and luck
What is the locus of stability
-Splits attributions into stable (cant change) and unstable (can change)
-Stable = Ability and task difficulty
-Unstable = Effort and Luck
What is the controllability dimension
-Considers whether attributions are under performers control or not
-The controllable attribution = Effort
-The uncontrollable attributions = Ability, Task difficulty, Luck
What is Mastery orientation
-An individual being motivated to become an expert
What is learned helplessness
-A belief that failure is inevitable
What is self serving bias
-Biased attributions for failure to protect confidence and self esteem
