Republicanism
Idea that governments should be based on the consent of the people

Great compromise
Is a two house offer to satisfy both big states and small states.

Three-fifths compromise
Is when they called for 3/5 of the slaves to be counted as part of the population.

Step one on the long road to freedom for slaves. Also got a better sense of the population size.
Federalism
Divided power between national government and state government

In the end, it’s part of the government that ear ended up sticking to.
