What are the two types of sensory memory?
Iconic (visual)
Echoic(sound )
Working memory
- short term
- limited to 7+or-2
- only last 20-30 sec
- chunking helps us remember things by grouping them together
How do you keep things in your working memory?
By repeating them.
Long term memory
2 way process that can go back to working memory.
-retrieval can happen which is when you talk things from your long term and put it back into working memory
What’s anterograde vs. retrograde
Anterograde : forgetting things in the present
-retrograde: forgetting things from your past
How do we store our information?
By dreaming
What’s the stroop effect?
Easier to recognize a color if it is the same color
What’s the difference between explicit memory and implicit memory?
Explicit: we try to recall these memories. You can declare
Implicit: memories not in our consciousness. You can show but not declare. Ex I can show you how to drive a car
What are the two parts of explicit memory?
Episodic : experienced events
- semantic :knowledge and concepts

Alfred Birnet made this so people could improve their intelligence. Stanford and other schools use it to categorize people
What are the three intelligence ?
Analytical: problem solving
- practical: street smarts and common sense
- creative: imaginative
