Complete/Net ionic equations Flashcards

(10 cards)

1
Q

Define net ionic equation

A

A net ionic equation shows only the chemical species that actually change during the reaction. It excludes spectator ions (ions that don’t participate in the reaction).

Q

Steps of writing a complete ionic equation

A
  1. balance equation
2.break apart all ionic compounds that are aqueous into individual ions (s, l, g ) remains as is

(for net ionic, get rid of spectator ions)
