Kimmeridgian vs Portlandian soils

A

Kim: upper Jurassic. Crumbly chalky marl, exogyra virgula (oyster shell fossils), more porous

Portlandian: harder cap rock, less clay, not so many fossils, younger and the soils atop are sandier and thinner
