Where are Peyer's patches found?

Lamina Propria and Submucosa of ILEUM

3

What happens to B cells that are stimulated in the Germinal Centers of Peyer's patches?

Differentiate into IgA-secreting plasma cells

*Reside in Lamina Propria

4

What antibody deals with intraluminal gut antigens?

IgA

"think of IgA, the Intra-Gut Antibody"

*Always say "secretory IgA"

5

What is Bile composed of?

Bile salts
Phospholipids
Cholesterol
Bilirubin
Water
Ions

6

What are Bile salts?

Bile acids conjugated to Glycine or Taurine
*makes them water Soluble

7

What is the rate-limiting enzyme in Bile?

Cholesterol 7a-hyodroxylase

8

What is the function of Bile?

-Digestion and absorption of lipids and fat-soluble vitamins
-Cholesterol excretion (body's only means of eliminating cholesterol)
-Antimicrobial activity (via membrane disruption)

9

What is Bilirubin the product of?

Heme metabolism

10

What enzyme makes Conjugated bilirubin (DIRECT)?

UDP-glucuronosyl-transferase
*adds Glucuronic acid
