Penis
Carries sperm into the female reproductive system.
Scrotum
Contains the testicles.
Testes
Makes testosterone/ makes sperm by meiosis.
Epididymis
Stores sperm and allows it to mature/ transports sperm.
Seminal Vesicles
Provides liquid for sperm to swim in.
Prostate glands
Produces a liquid to nourish sperm.
Cowpers gland
Produces fluid to lubricate the urethra.
Sperm duct
Carries sperm to urethra.
Primary male characteristics
Growth of reproductive parts. eg penis
Secondary sexual characteristics
Features that distinguish male and females apart from sex organs. eg. growth of pubic hair, body hair, enlargement of larynx/growth spurts.
Male infertility
Cause: Low sperm count
Treatment:IVF.
Male hormone (FSH)
( Follicle-stimulating hormone)- In pituitary gland- when made: from puberty until end of life. Function: sperm production.
Male hormone (LH)
Luteinising hormone- In pituitary gland/ from puberty until end life/ testosterone production.
Testosterone
Testes/ from puberty until end life/ Primary and secondary male characteristics.
