3) Zygomatic
4) Maxillae
5) Mandible
Which bones make up the Zygomatic Arch?
Zygomatic and Temporal
What is the Supraorbital
foramina?
For the nerves that carry sensory information from the forehead
List the 7 Parts, Processes, Forman and Fossa in the Temporal Bone

4) Mastoid process
5) Styloid process
6) Stylomastoid foramen
7) Mandibular fossa
What is the Squamous part?
Flattened part that helps to form vault
What is the Petrous part?
- Dense part, like a rock
- Contains within it the organs of hearing & balance
What is the Zygomatic process?
Helps to form the zygomatic arch
What is the Mastoid process?
Protrusion for attachment of sternocleidomastoid
What is the Styloid process for?
For the attachment of the muscles and ligaments of the posterior face
What is the Stylomastoid foramen?
Hole for facial nerve (CN VII) to pass
What is the Mandibular fossa?
The surface to receive the mandible
What is the Pterygoid processes?
Provides attachment to some key
muscles of mastication & swallowing
What is the Crista galli for?
For the attachment of membranes and meninges that surround the brain
What is the Cribriform plate?
Holes for nerves of smell
What is the Incisor fossa?
Hollow above incisors on each side
What is the Canine fossa?
Hollow above canine teeth
What is the Infraorbital foramen for?
For the infraorbital nerve
What is the Maxillary sinus?
Large space within each maxilla
