What nerve supplies the sensory of the face?
3 branches of the Trigeminal Nerve
1) Ophthalmic Nerve
2) Maxillary Nerve
3) Mandibular Nerve
Is the Ophthalmic Division Sensory, Motor or Both?
Sensory
What are the 3 branches of the Ophthalmic Division?
- Frontal Nerve
- Lacrimal Nerve
- Nasociliary Nerve
What does the Lacrimal Nerve supply?
Gives branches to the conjunctiva and skin of the upper eyelid
What does the Frontal Nerve give rise to?
- Supraorbital Nerve
- Supratrochlear Nerve
What does the Frontal Nerve supply?
- The upper eyelid
- Forehead
- Scalp
What does the Nasociliary Nerve give rise to?
- External Nasal Nerve
- Infratrochlear Nerve
What does the External Nasal Nerve supply?
Skin of dorsum of the nose
What does the Infratrochlear Nerve supply?
Medial upper eyelid
Where do the Ophthalmic Division Nerves leave through?
Superior Orbital Fissure
Is the Maxillary Division Sensory, Motor or Both?
Sensory
What are the 2 branches of the Maxillary Division?
1) Zygomatic Nerve
2) Infraorbital Nerve
List the 2 branches that the Zygomatic Nerve divides into
- Zygomaticofacial
- Zygomaticotemporal
What does the Zygomatic Nerve supply?
Skin over the zygomatic bone
What does the Infraorbital Nerve supply?
Sensory to cheek & upper lip
Where do the Maxillary Division Nerves leave through?
Foramen Rotundum
Is the Mandibular Division Sensory, Motor or Both?
Sensory and Motor
What are the 3 branches of the Mandibular Division?
1) Mental Nerve
2) Buccal Nerve
3) Auriculotemporal Nerve
What is the Mental Nerve a branch of?
A terminal branch of inferior alveolar nerve
What does the Mental nerve supply?
Skin of chin and lower lip
What does the Buccal Nerve supply?
Skin and mucous membrane of cheek
What does the Auriculotemporal Nerve provide sensory to?
Skin in the temporal region
What does the Great Auricular Nerve supply?
The skin over the parotid gland and area between mandible and mastoid process
What are the Superficial Muscles of the Face also known as?
Muscles of Facial Expression
