Veins of the trunk (18 cards)
What are the tributaries of the SVC?
L/R brachiocephalic veins and azygous
What are L and R brachiocephalic formed by?
internal jugular and subclavian
What does the internal thoracic veins drain?
Most anterior intercostal space
Where do the internal thoracic veins drain?
Brachiocephalic vein
What are the tributaries of the IVC from superior to inferior per side?
- 3x hepatic veins on anterior IVC
- 1-2 inferior phrenic veins from diaphragm
- R suprarenal
- R renal
- R gonadal
- L renal, forming from L suprarenal and L gonadal
- R gonadal vein
- Lumbar veins (level is distributed)
- Common iliac veins -> R/L internal/external iliac veins
Where do the superior and inferior epigastric veins drain into respectively?
internal thoracic vein and external iliac vein
Where do the R/L ascending lumbar veins arise from?
common iliac veins
What does the external iliac become after the inguinal ligament?
femoral vein
What are fore mid and hind gut drained by?
splenic vein, superior mesenteric vein and inferior mesenteric vein
What do splenic vein and superior mesenteric vein form?
portal vein
Is azygous on L or R?
R
At what vertebral level does hemiazygos cross onto right?
T8
What does inferior mesenteric vein drain into?
splenic vein
Where does accessory hemiazygos arise from?
Upper posterior intercostals or brachiocephalic vein
At what level does brachiocephalic vein become SVC?
1st costal cartilage
At what level does azygos terminate on SVC?
manubriosternal junction
At what level does the superior mesenteric join the splenic vein?
transpyloric plane
At what level does common iliac veins join to form IVC?
L5
