Ocular Lens/Eyepiece

lens magnifies image ten times; allows viewing of specimen. Can be adjusted to fit your face.

Revolving Nosepiece

holds scanning, low power, high power, oil immersion objective lenses and turns to change lens.

Objective Lenses

4 lenses which magnify the specimen 4x, 10x, 40x, 100x

Stage

supports the slide being viewed

Stage Clips

holds the slide in place on the stage

Light Source

provides light which illuminates the specimen on the slide so it can be seen

Light Adjustment

Used to adjust amount of light. Start with light adjustment on high.

Arm

supports the upper part of microscope

Coarse Focus

moves the stage up and down for focusing; only used on scanning and low power

Fine Focus

moves the stage up and down a small amount to make image sharp; only used on high power

Base

supports microscope; microscope should be carried holding onto the arm and base

Slide Position Adjust Knobs

Moves the slide around on the stage…back and forth and side to side.
