What is the staffing requirement for the MRU to be put into service?
Fifty-four (54) personnel must be on-shift

Two licensed RFPS firefighter paramedics
This is part of the operational protocol for the MRU.
How are emergency medical incidents dispatched according to RFPS?

What type of incidents will the MRU respond to?
Single-apparatus emergency medical calls, Red 4, Blue Tech, Blue Water, Yellow 2

Only if approved by the on-duty Assistant Chief

‘AIQ’ indicates the MRU is the primary unit dispatched to emergency medical calls in the defined district.
What is the role of the RFPS Emergency Communications Centre (ECC)?
To dispatch all calls for service initiated by Regina EMS or Regina Police Service.
What should MRU Firefighter/Paramedics do if they require additional resources?
Utilize the assigned tactical talk group to communicate with the ECC.
What driving standards must the MRU adhere to when responding to Code Blue EMS incidents?
Lights and sirens as outlined in RFPS SOP 220-01 Driving Standards.
What personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when responding to Code Blue EMS calls?
Medical gloves, safety glasses, medical procedure mask, gown, reflective safety vest

What is the premise of Routine Practices in emergency medical response?
All blood, body fluid, secretions, excretions, mucous membranes, non-intact skin, or soiled items are potentially infectious.

The Firefighter/Paramedic assigned as the Driver.
What documentation is the Firefighter/Paramedic assigned as the Attendant responsible for?
Completing the Patient Care Report (PCR) in FDM.
What must both Firefighter/Paramedics complete regarding equipment?
Necessary daily equipment and inventory checks.
How will Firefighter/Paramedics be assigned to the MRU throughout the year?
On an evenly distributed basis for emergency response purposes.
Who may be assigned as an additional resource to the MRU for training and oversight?
The EMS Training Captain and/or a Platoon Support Specialist (PSS).
What are the responsibilities included in the assignment to the medical response unit?
Response to emergency medical incidents, training initiatives, skills maintenance, equipment and unit familiarization.
