What is issued to each RFPS apparatus for SCBA facepieces?
Protective pouches
Each pouch is marked to match the apparatus number and personnel position
When should the facepiece be stored in the protective pouch?
At all times when not in active use
The pouch must remain with the SCBA harness assembly assigned to that apparatus and personnel position
What must RFPS personnel note in the SCBA Log Books at the beginning of each shift?
That the protective pouches assigned to each apparatus personnel position are accounted for
This is done after the SCBA daily check
Who is responsible for ensuring the protective pouch remains with the SCBA harness assembly?
RFPS personnel
This responsibility lasts for the duration of their shift
What happens if an apparatus has more than four personnel riding positions?
Spare pouches will be issued
These spare pouches are also marked accordingly
What must be done with the protective pouch when the facepiece is required for use?
It must be removed from the SCBA harness assembly and stored in a safe location
A safe location could be the apparatus cab or a monitored central location on-scene.
What hazards do the supplied pouches present?
They are a fire and entanglement hazard
These pouches should not enter a working fire or any hazardous situation.
When is the protective pouch allowed to remain in the assigned apparatus?
When any part of the SCBA harness assembly requires maintenance
It must remain for use with the replacement SCBA assembly.
