Jacobins - no girondins voted in NC in Paris

-NO very small, only 6% of those entitled to vote actually voted
What may be reasons for the poor turn out in the elections for the National Convention?
-voter apathy
-elections were occuring during the september massacres so people would have been scared

-Robespierre (no.1), Marat, Desmoullins and Danton,Herbois
What was the other name for the Jacobins in the National Convention?
-Montagnards

1)Montagnards(Jacobin) -300 deputies
2)La Plaine - Abbe Sieyes (unaffiliated moderates)
3) Girondins led by Brissot - 150 deputies
What did the Girondins see the s.c as?
-Illegitimate mob who they opposed the brutality of (especially the september massacres which had an effect in the NC)
What were traits of the people elected as NC?
-Quite young
