Asclepias tuberosa

Anti-tussive, anti-spasm (but can cause labor so avoid in pregnancy). Use for URIs.

No high doses, long-term use or use with cardiac glycosides

Aspidosperma quebracho

Expectorant. Good for wet cough.

Ephedra sinica

Alpha-agonist, bronchodilator, anti-jussive, anti-allergies.

Use in allergies, asthma, and for weight loss.

Acts like adderall with similar side effects. Don't combine with alpha or beta blockers or agonists. Don't use in anyone with HTN, MI, stroke risk, hyperthyroidism, DM, BPH, glaucoma, anorexia, pregnancy, long-term use, steroids, TCAs

Eucalyptus globulus

Anti-spasm, anti-microbial and expectorant.

Can use topically or internally/inhaled for URIs, aches and pains. Bug repellant.

Eucalyptus branches hang LOW to the ground: don't use in anyone with anything LOW; low BP, low blood sugar, low kidney function.

Eupatorium perfoliatum

ASTER. Anti-spasm. Flu, URI.

Grindelia robusta

ASTER. Respiratory stimulant, but beta-blocking action.

Asthma, COPD, URI, cardiac cough.

Can cause selenium overdose if grown in selenium-rich soil.

Inula helenium

Elecampagne. ASTER. Antimicrobial and anti-helminth. Mucilage.

URI, asthma. No use in pregnancy.

Lobelia inflata

Acts like nicotine! CNS stimulation then respiratory depression.

Use in coughs asthma, URI.

Side effects including vomiting, tachycardia, respiratory depression and death.

Can bring on labor when put on cervical os. Don't use in people with heart disease or DRY COUGH.

Plantago major

Expectorant and astringent.

Coughs and hemorrhoids. Topical or internal. Gentle and safe.

Prunus serotina

Expectorant, sedative and anti-spasm.

For spasmodic coughs. Bronchitis, pertussis.

Large dose is toxic, avoid in pregnancy

Anti-allergenic. AI, antimicrobial.

Hepatotoxicity, don't mix w drugs

Thymus vulgaris

Expectorant, anti-spasm. Antimicrobial.

Cough, infections and slow digestion.

Too much of the EO can burn you, don't use in pregnancy

Anti-cough. Gentle and safe

Tussilago farfara

ASTER. PAs!

Anti-cough, demulcent. Soothing. Coughs and asthma.

PAs mean its hepatotoxic, avoid w liver dz

Mullein! Demulcent, expectorant.

"Hard cough with soreness" UTI, URI

Internal or topical (joints, otitis media)
