Q

STEP 1?:

A

It transport Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and Nutrients. The heart pumps out oxygen which releases energy stored as glucose in cells. Carbon dioxide gets released out of the body by doing cardiovascular fitness.

Q

WHAT DOES EXERCISE GOT TO DO WITH YOUR CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM?:

A

Exercises makes your body work harder. Your muscles require oxygen, which means your body needs more oxygen and nutrients, glucose to function.

Q

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BODY WHEN ADRENALINE APPEARS?:

A

When your body heart rate changes, then adrenaline increases. Adrenaline is a hormone, makes the heart pump quicker. Exercise… Stressful situations…

Q

WHAT IS THE HEART?, HOW IS IT FORMED?:

A

The Heart is a muscular pump, has four chambers, atria collects the blood as it comes into the heart, ventricles that pump the blood out of the heart. Valves between the atria and the ventricles make sure that the blood cannot flow backwards due to a heart attack.

Q

HOW BLOOD FROM THE HEART IS TRANSFERRED TO THE REST OF THE BODY?:

A

Blood from the ventricles has to go right round the body. Blood from ventricles has to reach the lungs, which is thinner. Doctors can open up our blood vessels by going on medication after a recent health problem/s.

Q

THE FORMATION OF THE HEART & HOW THE BODY USES EACH PART…?:

A

The Heart is divided into two parts. The right side pumps deoxygenated blood, this is so the lungs pick it all up. The rest of the body is pumped around with pxygenated blood.

Q

VENA CAVA?:

A

The Vena Cava brings venous (deoxygenated blood) body from the body to the right atrium, where it collects.

Q

WHAT IS THE JOB OF THE VENOUS BLOOD IN THE HEART/BODY?:

A

The Venous Blood passes from the right atrium to the right ventricle through a valve with three cusps, called the tricuspid valve.

Q

WHAT IS THE FUNCTIONS OF THE BLOOD WHEN CARRYING BLOOD AROUND THE BODY?:

A

The Blood then passes through the pulmonary valve into the pulmonary artery, and on into the lungs where it will pick up oxygen.

Passes into the left ventricle through a valve with two cusps, the bicuspid.

Q

WHAT IS THE JOB OF OXYGENATED BLOOD IN THE BODY?, & HOW DOES IT WORK IN THE BODY?, WHERE IS IT LOCATED?:

A

Oxygenated Blood returns to the heart through pulmonary vein and collects in the left atrium.

Oxygenated Blood passes through the aortic valve and is ready to be sent round the body, through artery called aorta.

Q

HOW THE HEART PUMPS?:

A

The Heart fills itself with oxygenated blood and is a repeated process, opening & closing & is supplying blood to our organs.

Q

WHAT IS THE SECOND PHASE OF HOW THE HEART PUMPS?:

A

Second Phase is when the Heart relaxes, called ‘diastole’, heart re-filles with blood. The ventricles are filling and relaxing, while the atria are just relaxing. More oxygenated blood requires for respiration.

Q

WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF BLOOD PRESSURE?:

A

Blood Pressure is a measure of force that your heart uses to pump the blood round your body. In sport it/you will have a higher problems in the future. An example of this would be 135/95. The top number is your systolic blood pressure, however the bottom number is your diastolic blood pressure, the lowest pressure, when your heart is relaxing.

17
Q

HOW DO ARTERIES, VEINS & CAPILLARIES HELP DURING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY?:

A

During exercise or Physical Activity the arteries, veins and capillaries work together to supply your muscles with the oxygen they need to work, this is so de-oxygenated blood is carried back to the heart & is provided by the muscles from oxygenated blood. The three main stages of blood vessels are different.

18
Q

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF A ARTERY?:

A

An Artery is a blood vessel taking blood away from the heart, carries oxygenated blood and is a vessel.

19
Q

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF A VEIN?:

A

A Vein is a vessel carrying de-oxygenated blood back to the heart to re-gain oxygen.

20
Q

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF CAPILLARIES?:

A

Capillaries are microscopic vessels - just one cell thick - that link arteries with veins, blood pressure in capillaries is very low. They need to be thinner due to the transport.

21
Q

WHAT IS VASCULAR SHUNTING?, WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS?:

A

When exercising, the distribution of blood in your body changes. Your muscles need more blood of movement. This process is called Vascular Shunting.

22
Q

WHAT ARE RED BLOOD CELLS?, WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS?:

A

Red Blood Cells transport oxygen from the lungs to the body’s cells, they contain haemoglobin, stores oxygen & carbon dioxide. This is important for long distance runners.

23
Q

WHAT ARE WHITE BLOOD CELLS?, WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS?:

A

White Blood Cells kill diseases & pathogens. They produce anti-bodies. This is bad though, especially if you have an illness or injury which means you cannot perform. This could lead to reversibility etc.

24
Q

WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANCE OF PLATELETS?, WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS?:

A

Platelets clot the blood due to a cut in the skin which carry white blood cells to help not just to clot but also hold the skin back together. They help stick (Hold) back together to form a scar later.

25
Q

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD PLASMA?, WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS?:

A

Blood Plasma is important in sport because without circulation between the cells and tissues, oxygen transportation cannot happen - this/This means muscle cannot get energy, they need to work. Carbon Dioxide dissolve in blood when leaving the body. This contains a range of substances. Plasma is a pale straw - coloured liquid made up of 90% water mostly.
