Q

WARMING UP/COOLING DOWN:

A

ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS FOR WARMING UP IS THAT WARMING THE MUSCLES GRADUALLY HELPS TO PREVENT INJURY AND MAKES YOUR WORKOUTS MORE EFFECTIVE.

BLOOD PRESSURE DROPS, DIZZINESS.

REMEMBER THAT COOLING DOWN SERVES NOT TO PREVENT INJURY BUT TO DISPERSE LACTIC ACID - PREVENTING SORENESS AND ACHES.

ALL GAMES AND SPORTS HAVE RULES SO THAT THERE CAN BE FAIR COMPETITION.

RULES HELP TO ENSURE PLAYER SAFETY. IF RULES ARE BROKEN, PARTICIPANTS ARE PUNISHED AND PUT INTO DANGER…

OFFENCES CAN INCLUDE; ‘PROPESSIONAL FOULS’ OVER AGGRESION WHICH CAN THREATEN A PLAYER’S CAREER.

Q

FRACTURES:

A

A BROKEN OR A CRACKED BONE THAT CAN OCCUR FROM A BLOW. THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF FRACTURES INCLUDING:

IN CLOSED: THE SKIN OVER THE BREAK IS NOT DAMAGED

COMPOUND FRACTURES: THE BROKEN BONE PROTRUDES THROUGH THE SKIN.

SIMPLE FRACTURE: TAKE PLACE IN ONE LINE, WITH NO DISPLACEMENT OF THE BONE.

STRESS FRACTURE: (OVERUSE INJURIES) THEY CAN HAPPEN AS A RESULT OF FATIGUE.

Q

TORN CARTILLAGE:

A

CARTILLAGE IS A FIRM ELASTIC SUBSTANCE WHICH LINES ADJOINING BONES. IT ABSORBES THE IMPACT ON THE BONES WHILE REDUCING THE FRICTION DURING SPORTS / ACTIVITY.

DAMAGE TO CARTILLAGE OFTEN OCCURS DUE TO WEAR & TEAR FROM LONG TERM OVERUSE.

Q

ABRASION:

A

ABRASION OR GRAZES CAN BE CAUSED BY FRICTIONS OF THE SKIN AGAINST A ROUGH SURFACE.

Q

TENNIS ELBOW:

A

A CONDITION THAT CAUSES PAIN AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE ELBOW. IT OFTEN HAPPENS AFTER OVERUSE OR REPEATED ACTION OF THE MUSCLES OF THE FOREARM, NEAR ELBOW JOINT.

SYMPTOMS = PAIN

REHABITALISATION = FIRST CLENCH, GRAB TOWEL AND SQUEEZE, SUPINATION WITH DUMBBELL - 90 DEGREE MOVEMENT URIST EXTENSION AND FLEXION, TOWEL TWIST.

17
Q

GOLFERS ELBOW:

A

A CONDITION THAT CAUSES PAIN WHERE THE TENDONS OF YOUR ELBOW, PAIN SPREADS OUT. SIMILAR TO TENNIS ELBOW, OCCURS OUTSIDE OF THE ELBOW. IT’S NOT LIMITED FOR GOLFERS.

SYMPTOMS = PAIN, TENDERNESS, STIFFINESS, WEAKNESS, NUMBNESS OR TINGLING.

REHABITALISATION = STRETCHING, ISOMETRIC WRIST STRENGTHENING (EXTENSION) & FLEXION.
