Q

What are the four types of receptors that provide SOMATOSENSORY FEEDBACK, and what do they do?

A
  1. FREE NERVE ENDINGS: Pain, warmth cold
  2. MERKEL’S DISKs: light touch
  3. PACINIAN CORPUSCLES: deep pressure
  4. HAIR FOLLICLE: movement of hairs

Q

What happens if you damage one of the two brain regions relevant to the processing of somatosensory information?

Q

In the context of motor movement, what is an EFFERENT COPY?

A

A copy of the motor command, which is kind of cc’d to the sensory regions

This enables the planned movement to be cross checked against the actual movement

15
Q

Something to do with self tickle and SCZ

A

I think this is the idea that there’s some kind of break down in the EFFERENT COPY system. I think SCZs don’t recognise self tickle as themselves when their symptoms are present.

This helps explain other symptoms - like thinking voices originate elsewhere

Q

In the case of BLINDSIGHT, which brain regions is damaged and which is in tact?

VC PPC

A
  1. VISUAL CORTEX damaged

2. POSTERIOR PARIETAL CORTEX in tact
