A
  • activity to maintain elevated breathing and heart rate e.g. jogging and reduced gradually
  • stretches which involve all major muscles used
  • further recovery process e.g. ice bath, massage, rehydration and nutrient intake

how do ice baths help recovery

A
  • performer in ice btah for a few minutes
  • blood vessles vasoconstrict to force blood back to body’s core
  • performer leaves ice bath
  • blood vessels vasodilate allowing oxygen-rich blood to flush the muscles
  • this helps remove watse products and prevent DOMS

  • replace lost fluid to prevent dehydration which can cause headaches and increase decision making and reaction time
  • suitable foodstuffs should be consumed to replace lost nutrients/ salts and aid the recovery process.
  • prevents fainting or fellings of dizziness
