Plants are photoautotrophs. They colonized land 500 mya and became multicellular when they started living in colonies. The photosynthetic organs of a plant are the leaves, which evolved in multiple plant lineages at once. They came to be flatter and broader to get more sunlight. The goal of photosynthesis is anabolism of organic molecules from CO2. Photosynthesis starts with CO2 and water. It ends with glucose and oxygen. It has light dependent reactions and light independent reactions. Both require ATP. The light dependent reactions supply The light independent reactions with fully formed products. Chloroplasts are Cyanobacteria that were engulfed by eukaryotes.
