P&OS 2: Station 1. Flashcards
Describe kinetics(4)
- biomechanics of gait
- forces and turning effects at joints
- causes of motion
- things we can’t see
Describe kinematics(3)
- Study of the motion of objects (without consideration of the causes leading to the motion)
- phases and movement of joints and segments
How is the gait cycle made up?
60% stance phase
40% swing phase
What are the 2 double support phases of gait?
Initial contact and pre-swing
What is stance phase made up of?
Initial contact, loading response, mid stance, terminal stance, pre-swing
What is swing phase made up of?
Initial swing, mid swing, terminal swing
How many arks of ankle motion are there?
4
What is the first ark of ankle motion?
Plantarflexion- initial contact to loading response
What is the second ark of ankle motion?
Dorsiflexion loading response to midstance
What is the 3rd ark of motion?
Plantarflexion at pre-swing
What is the 4th ark of motion?
Dorsiflexion- initial swing-mid swing
Describe knee motion in gait
Flexes and extends in both stance and swing
What is the first ark of knee motion?
Flexion- initial contact to loading response
What is the second ark of knee motion?
Extension- loading response to terminal stance
What is the third ark of ankle motion?
Flexion- preswing to initial swing
