Q

What should be done if dust or particles enter an eye?

A

Eye bath may be used prior to decision for hospital treatment
If eye lenses are being worn then the contact lens should be left in situ and the eye irrigated at the eye bath following the normal procedure, The contact lens should then be removed as soon as possible
Before re-using the lens, the wearer must seek advice from an opthalmic optician and have the lens replaced as necessary
Prevention is clearly the best option and safety googles/visor must be worn at all times when there is danger of contamination to the eyes
Ensure that goggles/visors are stored in a manner that does not allow particles to collect in them
