Define Bronchial asthma ?
Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways causing reversible airway narrowing, wheezing, cough, and shortness of breath, often triggered by allergens, exercise, or infections.
Forms ?
Atopic = Genetic disorders auto dominant, most affects children and young adults
Non atopic allergic asthma = Triggered by allergens involves Ige
Most common symptoms?
Recurrent episodes of expiratory dyspnea , Wheezing
Dry cough, especially at night or early morning
• Chest tightness
• Coughing up mucus at the end of an attack
Clinical examination
Auscultation, we have prolonged expiratory phase wheezing decreased breath sounds percussion hyperresonant sound diaphragm displacement
Diagnosis ?
Spiormetry
Chest X ray
Antibody testing Ige
Acute management
SABA ( Albuterol ) mild symptoms
Severe = SAMA ( ipratropium Bromide ) acute quick fix
Inhaled corticosteroids Fluticasone
