Q

First step in process control is planning

A

Planning as a contractor i will be involved in determining what kind of activities I wanna do, in what sequence, and how,
For example as soon as i get the project I put together a baseline schedule for the project with the method statement (1st step in planning)

Q

Throughout the project there is a lot of planning done

A

To generate lookahead

A

1-Zoom in to the all over project and determine what kind of activities where we theoratically supposed to do in the coming 4 -6weeks
2- list these activities
3-out of these activities ( I see how much ready i am to deliver them, i choose how much I can do ; i can do less or i can do more ) I may have prerequisites for certain activities , like materials , money , drawings…
4- The non ready activities will be postponed

Q

Why I am doing the lookahead schedule , should n’t it be incoroporated in the all over projecct schedule

A

No why
1- the all over project schedule is not that detailed
2-the all over project schedule is theoratical and on field nobody knows what really will happen

Q

the frequency of the project control ( like analyzing repots and feedback and and doing project control ) is done usually on monthly basis

A

However it totally depends on te criticality of the activities and the project. Also contracts can have their own project control frequency in order not to be delayed if they wait for one month

16
Q

quality ansurance vs quality control

A

quality asssurance is process oriented meaining defining the procsses to make sure that the process is adequate ( like quality assurance for the concrete that comes to the site)

qualtiy control is a part of the quality assurance it is focused on the dveloped product ( product oriented), is the product we have developed is acceptable, inspecting and testing like strength smotthness…testing ac, looking at paint

17
Q

How often we do QA and QC , it depends on the product

A

fror example for concrete every time we have a concrete truck
for bars u take sample

18
Q

All the entities care for the quality

A

true( A/E, client , contractor, suppliers, users..)

19
Q

Who is responsible for what

A

As project management firm i care for quality to know if its done or not like to know how it will affect the schedule and to know whether i approve payment or not
as contractor i care a lot for it because i need approvAL OF ENGINEER , So if I want to pour concrete on Friday , I make sure that rebars are ok on Monday, So when Engineer comes I wont get delayed if he requests some changes (Safety check up)
Also before calling the Engineer I come as myself contractor and check ( I am first layer of quality check, because I want to reduce chances of problems and delays as much as I can)

20
Q

First entity to double check the work itself is the contractor

A

true(HE takes the lead, he is in the leadership position )

21
Q

How do I know if I got the right contractor to do the job

A

I lok at the peopple CV
I look at manual
QA/QC procedures
How well They embrace quality (like ISO certificates)

22
Q

Few do total Quality management (Gold standards)

A

When they do any work , they have the error outside the 6 sigma

23
Q

A/E give out the specs required

A

contractor giving the QA/QC must respond to the specs.
Specs clarify the QA/QC requirement.
As designer i come to the site to provide provisional acceptance and final acceptance

24
Q

Where u will get higher quality , prefabricated (modular) or casted on site

A

prefabricated yard, because you have more controlled environment , however there is a down side that ur design will be frozen, alsoo here i need to send my people there for quality assurance and control unit there in order to supervise the work

25
Q

Higher quality higher cost

A

true
there is a trade off between quality and cost , as contracor I want to reduce the cost as much as i can with the acceptable quality

26
Q

Higher quality more time

A

true
