  • Blunt force injuries
    • Differential deceleration and shear forces
      • Aortic root tears, renal arteries, hepatic tear along ligamentum teres
    • Crushing
      • Spleen, liver, kidneys
    • External compression
      • Hollow viscera especially vulnerable
  • Penetrating injuries
