Acute otitis externa management in children

A
  1. Keep the ear dry and avoid swimming for 7–10 days.
    Use simple analgesia (paracetamol or ibuprofen) for pain relief.
  2. Consider over-the-counter acetic acid 2% (Earcalm) ear drops (for children ≥12 years) for up to 7 days.
  3. Prescribe a topical antibiotic ear drops (neomycin, gentamicin ciprofloxacin), with or without a corticosteroid, for 7–14 days if needed
