When do I get paid for court appearances?
You get paid for attendance at state or federal court if you are on the Mid shift, Eve shift, vacation, furlough, or on a DOR
When is the only time I shall be granted paid time off which conflicts with the scheduled court appearance for which overtime will be generated for that court appearance?
Master vac WEEK.
What is the deal with witness fees?
You may be entitled to a court witness fee in lieu of but not in addition to any other type of compensation.
Any other type of compensation is received during the period of time of court appearance
Appearing at a second court, during a time, for which the member is still receiving compensation, for their appearance, at the first court attended
Working a dayshift
On injured or extended leave
Not a witness for the Commonwealth
Am I eligible for a travel fee for court appearance?
Yes when a private vehicle is used to travel to and from court held in a city or town other than the city or town in which member resides. Travel allowance is only authorized from the actual point of origin and actual point of return from the court attendance.
When am I not eligible for travel fees for court appearance?
A state owned vehicle is used
Receiving mileage allowance from any other government or private source
Duplication of mileage occurs from more than 1 court
within one day
What do I do if I’m on injured leave status and I have to go to court?
Notify my immediate supervisor and the court officer who issued the SP189 court appearance notification.
Request a continuance or reschedule your appearance through the court officer of jurisdiction
Continuance is not granted, request authorization to appear from the Troop/Section commander or designate .
What do I do if I’m on temporary modified duty status and I have to go to court?
Notify my immediate supervisor and the court officer who issued the SP 189.
Request a continuance or reschedule the appearance
If it continuance is not granted, request authorization to appear from the troop/session, commander, or designee.
What happens if I’m an Extended leave status, and I have to make a court appearance?
Notify my immediate supervisor in the court officer, who issued the SP 189

NOT APPEAR IN COURT ON BEHALF OF THE DEPARTMENT !!!!!
When do I need to have the SP 189 date/timestamp by the Clerks Office ?
If more than 4 hours of overtime are generated by any court appearance on a single calendar day date/time stamped must occur, have the ADA sign the SP189, including the actual time of the members appearance date/time stamp is not available.
Commanding officers responsibilities for SP 189 submissions:
Review and reconcile all submitted SP 189
Deny any court overtime submitted on Paystation without a proper and signed SP 189
Retain all submitted stations/Unit Court appearances, notification forms for inspections for three years .
Review request for court appearances involving three or more members as notified by the court officer consult with the appropriate court authority to determine if any members appearance is not critical to the case 
What do non-field section/units do about court guidelines?
Commanding officers shall create court appearance guidelines, appropriate for their stations/unit, and file a copy with the appropriate DIVISION COMMANDER
