Q

Describe the process of CV drift

A

As athletes exercise, they begin to sweat which leads to fluid loss
This fluid loss leads to the loss of plasma in the blood, causing blood to become thicker and more viscous, increasing resistance to blood flow
High blood viscosity decreases stroke volume
And to maintain a high cardiac output during exercise, heart rate will increase to compensate for the decrease in stroke volume
