They saw the colonists pursuit of foreign market as an economic threat. Mercantilism said: any wealth (goods) going to other counties came at the expense of the mother country

He seemed to make the colonial governments more obedient. He got tired of losing money and smugglers

this was the voyage that brought Africans to the west indies and then into the colonies. The conditions were harsh and 20% of the slaves died during the passage
