Chapter 5 Flashcards
(8 cards)
Aerobic
Anaerobic
Aerobic: long distance using O2 (oxygen)
Anaerobic: Short and sharp using no o2 (no oxygen)
Oxygen uptake at rest, during exercise and recovery
Phase 1: Oxygen deficit
Phase 2: Steady ready
Phase 3: EPOC
Steady state
Deficit
Steady state: when the oxygen supply is meeting the demand
Deficit: When there isn’t enough oxygen to meet the demand
O2 debt gets oxygen back into the body which wasn’t there at the start
Phase 2: Steady state-
OXYGEN DEMAND=OXYGEN SUPPLY
Anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes into exercise
If and when oxygen does not meet the demand of the exercise, an aerobic steady state has been obtained
ATP re synthesis
ATP-ADP+P= ATP
Phase 3: EPOC (post exercise oxygen consumption)
The volume of oxygen used during recovery in excess of resting levels
During EPOC the body is being returned to pre exercise condition in a number of ways
