Lactic acid and Anaerobic glycolysis Flashcards
(7 cards)
What is it?
Breaks down to lactate and hydrogen ions (h+) very quickly with insufficient oxygen (Anaerobic)
Using to much oxygen so you cant break down lactate causing fatigue
Hydrogen ions (h+)
Results in an increase in the acidity within the muscles
Changes in Ph
Anaerobic glycolysis energy system
Metabolic by product accumulation relies on active recovery- Light activity at a low intensity for 5-10 minutes
Allows-Increased blood flow to working muscles
By products of Glycolysis
Lactate and H + ions
Fuel source
Glycogen
Intensity of exercise
85-95%
Lactic acid
-impaired isometric muscle contraction force
-Impaired isometric muscle velocity force
-Is used as a cheaper measure of hydrogen ions
