What is the difference between command and control?

A

Control - controls the response
An incident controller is responsible for setting the priorities and objectives to the response and can assigned tasks to other agencies

Command - operates within an organization. A commander can direct an agencies, personnel and resources to a particular job

A Controller does not command other agencies staff, they control the response

What are the three different command response levels and what do they mean?

A

Tactical
When Police resources are applied directly in the community. This incorporates every day Police work such as command of immediate situations and all police resources.

Operational
Operational level exists when multiple tactical levels occur or the situation is complex e.g. Enter agency coordination, things where resources would need to be allocated

Strategic
This is required when the scope consequence or political implications require management.
