Define a valsalva manoeuvre.

A forced expiration against a closed glottis

How would you get a patient to perform a valsalva manoeuvre?

Lie them supine and ask them to blow into a 20ml syringe with enough force to push the plunger back.Despite not being able to achieve this, they will perform a valsalva manoeuvre

Narrow: originates above the bundle of His
