A

Theatre in the round, they are ovals and SAND because the sand on the floor would soak up the blood

A

A

Brick and Marble on the surface, also used concrete guts but the concrete is too heavy for such a tall building, they used a lot of arches to lighten it, near the top the added volcanic rock because its very light

What are braces?

A

They are above the windows and they held up the poles, which would project above the coliseum and had ropes/fabrics on them, you were able to have a retractable dome

A

2 stairs walk up that are different colours to get to the amphitheatre

A

Looked gold but aren’t gold, they just decorated the exterior of the amphitheatre

A

80 so you could get in and out quickly, there would be a specific entrance you had to use on your ticket

A

They were for the high class people, such as the emperor and family, the other 76 were for the commoners

An underground that had a removable wood flooring, a basement w/tunnels and rooms

Its connected by the underground tunnel and is a building for training gladiators and had its own small amphitheatre

F was used IN the roman period and C was used AFTER the roman period

Why were the theatres round?
So that the editor could be seen by everyone

It was the best way to accommodate to maximize the space

Could be requested in a will. Or a relative could pay themselves to do. Or if the town demands it if a rich person died.

They needed government approval

What are votive events?
When they would ask for approval even though no one died. A votive was a vow/prayer.

What are Civic Gladiatorial Games?
They are held for 2 weeks in December and one in March, there doesn't need to be a funeral, had both chariot and gladiatorial games

What was permitted to do for advertising?
Graffiti was allowed, painting on the wall to let people know details
