- Best for more open-ended and exploratory studies and when visuals or product interactions are required.

- Short questionnaires
What are mail and online surveys good for?
- Useful for collecting information about sensitive issues such as health, criminal behaviours, drug taking and personal relationships
What is simple dichotomy?
- A fixed alternative question that requires the repsondent to choose one of two alternatives
What is a determinant Question?
- A fixed alternative question that requires the respondent to choose one response from multiple alternatives.
What is a frequency determination question?
Asks for an answer about the general frequency of occurrence
What to avoid in questions?
- Complexity
- Leading questions
- Loaded questions
- Ambiguity
- Double barrelled items
- Making assumptions

What is a leading question?
- A question that suggests or implies specific answers
What is a loaded question?
A question that suggests a socially desirable answer or is emotionally charged
What is a filter question?
Screens out respondents who are not qualified to answer a second question
What is the funnel technique?
Asking general questions before specifc questions in ordwe to obtain unbiased questions.
What is a branch question?
- A filter question used to determine which version of a second question will be asked
