What is Selective Attention?
The process of attending to some information received by our senses and ignoring other information.
What is Confirmation Bias?
Tendency to seek only confirming evidence when evaluating our hypotheses, while failing to seek disconfirming evidence (we see what we expect to see)
What is Stereotyping?
The process of assigning traits to people on the basis of their membership in a social category.
What is the Halo Effect?
The tendency for an impression created in one area to influence opinion in another area.
What are the 4 levels of emotional intelligence?
- Self Awareness

- Empathy (Awareness of other’s emotions)

What influences selective attention?
- Characteristics of the person or object being perceived (size, intensity, motion, reputation, novelty, context)
- Characteristics of the perceiver (the brain quickly and unconsciously assesses relevance of information and attaches emotional markers
