Q

senses fine touch

A

Dorsal Column

2
Q

sense pressure

A

Dorsal Column
&
ANTERIOR Spinothalamic tract

3
Q

sense vibration & Propioception

A

Dorsal Column

4
Q

sense pain & temperature

A

LATERAL

Spinothalamic tract

5
Q

senses crude touch

A

ANTERIOR

Spinothalamic tract

6
Q

Dorsal Column’s 1st order neuron is what type and where is its cell body.

A

Pseudo-unipolar

DRG

7
Q

Spinothalamic’s 1st order neuron is what type and where is its cell body.

A

Pseudo-unipolar

DRG

8
Q

What is the function of the Lateral Corticospinal tract

(LCST) ?

A

voluntary movement of contralateral limbs

9
Q

Where does the Dorsal Column synapse 1st?

A

Ipsilateral Nucleus Gracilis/Cuneatus

in the caudal medulla

10
Q

Where does the Dorsal Column 2nd order neuron Decussate and go from there?

A

In the Caudal Medulla
ascends CONTRALATERALLY
as the Medial Lemniscus
to the VPL (Thalamus)

11
Q

Where does the Spinothalamic Tract synapse 1st?

A

Ipsilateral dorsal (posterior) horn of the spinal cord’s gray matter.

12
Q

Where does the Spinothalamic Tract 2nd order neuron Decussate and go from there?

A

Decussates in the spinal cord via the Anterior White Commisure and ascends contralaterally via STT.
It goes to the VPL (thalamus)

13
Q

How does the pain/ temperature 1st order neuron enter the spinal cord?

A

via Lissauer’s tract

14
Q

What are the 2 pain free nerve endings?

A

3 Alpha Deltaᵟ for sharp FAST pain (myelinated)

4C for throbbing, SLOW pain (unmyelinated)

15
Q

Which tract is a descending/ efferent tract?

A

LCST

16
Q

Where does the LCST/CST synapse 1st?

A

UMN synapses with LMN at the Anterior (Ventral) horn of the spinal cord gray matter

17
Q

Where does the LMN synapse to?

A

NMJ muscle fiber

18
Q

Where is the UMN cell body located?

A

Primary motor cortex aka Pre-central Gyrus

19
Q

How does the UMN fiber descend?

A

Descends ipsilaterally through the posterior limb (motor only) of the internal capsule and cerebral peduncle

20
Q

Where does the UMN decussate?

A

Caudal Medulla Pyramids

descends contralaterally now via LCST
