2
Q

What are the 2 causes of glaucoma?

A

Q

Due to aqueous humor outflow blockage, sudden onset, can be caused by trauma or stress, can affect one or both eyes, worsens quickly; will see sudden and severe eye pain with headache

13
Q

What happens to the eyes when affected by amblyopia?

16
Q

How does retinal detachment occur?

A

When vitreous humor leaks through a retinal tear and accumulates underneath the retina and causes it to detach from the choroid; the reina becomes ischemic and stops funcitoning causing vision loss

17
Q

What are the causes of retinal detachment?

A

spontaneous, trauma, diabetes, aging changes

18
Q

How should the nurse treat retinal detachment? (emergency or nah)

A

Medical emergency!

19
Q

What manifestations are associated with retinal detachment?

A

Painless, blurred or darkening vision (curtain), flashes of light in peripheral field
