Confirmation bias
The tendency to favor information that confirms existing beliefs or values

An extraneous factor that influences both the independent variable and the dependent variable

A statistical technique that combines and analyzes results from multiple studies on a topic
Social desirability bias
The tendency for individuals to respond in a way that they believe will be viewed favorably by others

A rating scale used to measure attitudes or opinions
Directionality problem (in correlation)
The difficulty in determining which variable influences the other when a relationship is observed
Third variable problem (in correlation)
The possibility that a relationship between two variables might be due to a confounding variable
