when you speak about categories in general, need definite article: l’argent, le sport
-if partial then partitive
Remember all un/une/des turn to de in negative except for être (il n’est pas un prof sérieux; il n’a plus d’argent)
confusing: sports, music, studying a subject…all technically partial categories so partitive
fait de la natation, fait du français
BUT after apprendre and étudier you use definite:
j’étudie le français, il a appris l’allemand
Indefinite DES is kinda fucked…always getting turned to DE. Remember: plural indefinite des can’t follow a verb+de expression, BUT the definite plural des can! also un/une can too!!!

indefinite des becomes de also when there is an adjective before the noun (BAGS and one syllabe: tel/telle/fau/fausse/haut, etc)

other quantity expressions which are weird and are not followed by de..followed by nothing: quelques, plusieurs, aucun(e)
