Inductive Reasoning
Specific observations are used to reach a general explanation. "discovery science"
1
Deductive Reasoning
General explanations are applied to specific instances. "hypothesis-driven science"
2
Scientific Method
Observations - Questions - Hypothesis - Prediction - Test: Experiment
3
Scientific Hypothesis
A proposed explanation for one or more observations.
4
A hypothesis must be "testable." Explain.
Testable means able to be evaluated via experiments that others can repeat.
5
A hypothesis must be falsifiable. Explain.
One must be able to prove the hypothesis false (this does not mean the hypothesis is false; rather, it means that if it is false, then this can be shown through observation or experiments).
6
Research designs need what group types?
Control and treatment
