What are the limitations of regular individual travel insurance?
Coverage is only for outside the country of domicile and for a limited time during 12 months.
Why is regular individual travel insurance unsuitable for crew members?
Crew members are outside their country of residence for the majority of the time.
What type of insurance is purchased for crew members?
Group medical insurance is purchased.
What does a group policy cover?
It covers all employees for 12 months, includes any nationality worldwide, and is in addition to the person’s national/state or private insurance.
What does the group medical insurance not cover?
It does not cover the person in their country of residence.
What medical expenses does the group medical insurance cover?
It covers ambulance, hospital, and surgery expenses to get the person back to work or transportation back to their country of domicile.
When does the group medical insurance cover employees?
It covers employees onboard while working or traveling to/from the vessel for work purposes.
When does the group medical insurance not cover employees?
It does not cover employees while on holiday or out of work activities.
