What is a protolanguage?
The starting point/origin of a language
What is a language family?
A variety of languages with the same ancestor
What is a language branch?
A cluster of different languages that are apart of a language family and make up a subdivision
What is a language group?
Different languages that make up a language branch, (these languages often have similar vocabulary)
What is a dialect?
a regional variance that occurs in the form of language based on local culture
What is an isogloss?
a distinct boundary defined by linguistic differences
What are universalizing religions?
religions that seek to expand and reach as many people as possible
What are ethnic religions?
often stay in one location and do not try and convert other people

Eastern Mediterranean
What do Christian’s believe in?
-Jesus was the son of God
-He was sent on Earth to save humanity and die for our sins

-follow the 5 pillars of Islam

accept the descendants of Muhammed’s son-in-law Ali as the true rulers of Islam

accept the first four caliphs as the rightful successors of Muhammed and leaders of faith
