What is a primate city?
a city that has twice the population of the next largest city

What is rank size rule?
the population of the settlement will be 1/x of the largest settlement (x goes in numerical order 1…..4….7)
What are some examples of countries that follow rank size rule?

What does rank-size-rule countries have?
-spread out goods and services throughout the country
-more even development
What is the gravity model?
the larger the settlement the more pull factors that settlement has
What is Christaller’s Central Place Theory?
Why does Christaller’s Central Place Theory use hexagons?
to mimic no space between settlements, it is the closest shape to a circle that would do so
What does a hexagon represent?
an area that is served my a central point (a settlement or business)
What is a threshold?
a minimum number of people that are required to support any good service
What is range?
the maximum distance that a consumer is willing to travel for a certain good or service
