Q

functions of the 4 major parts in the urinary system

A

kidneys= filter blood and regulates the acid balance
ureters= 2 thin tubes that carry urine from kidneys to the bladder
urethra= exit of urine
bladder= stores the urine

Q

list the parts of a nephron and what they include

A

glomerulus= has mesangial,capillaries,efferent/afferent arterioles
Renal corpuscle= has a glomerulus and Bowmann’s
capsule
PCT (proximal convoluted tube)= reabsorbs fluid from filters fluid
Loop of henle= water reabsorption and salt
DCT(distal convoluted tube)= balances acidity by secreting/reabsorbing substances
Collecting duct= receives fluid from multiple nephrons to form urine

Q

what is the function of a glomerulus and bowman’s capsule?

Q

what 3 things must the nephron perform to keep homeostasis in blood?

A
  1. glomerular filtration= filters water/solute in blood plasma
  2. tubular reabsorption= the needed components and water back to body
    3.tubular secretion= secrete material into filtrate for disposal

Q

what are the 3 pressures that promote glomerulus filtration?

A
  1. GBHP= glomerulus blood hydrostatic pressure is the force for the liquid to go through the filtration
  2. BCOP= blood colloid osmotic pressure is caused by large proteins
    3.CHP= capsular hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by the fluid in bowmanns capsule

Q

what is NFP and state its formula

A

net filtration pressure is the pressure that pushes the fluid from the blood vessels in the kidneys to the bowman’s capsule

GBHP-BCOP-CHP
