    • ovarian vessels and nerves enter here from the peritoneal suspensory ligament via the mesovarium
  • The ovarian ligament anchors the ovary medially to the uterus

  • Mesothelium (visceral peritoneum)
    • cuboidal cells
  • Tunica albuginea
    • dense C.T. capsule
  • Cortex
    • very cellular C.T. containing developing follicles
  • Medulla
    • loose C.T. core containing vessels, nerves, lymphatics, and vestigial rete ovarii
