Describe the characteristics of monochorionic placentation.

- Nearly always monozygotic
- 2 back-to-back amnions
- If monoamnionic, then no dividing membrane

Intertwin vascular connections almost always present
- aproximately 15% develop TTTS (twin-twin transfusion syndrome)

A
- Can be either monozygotic or dizygotic
- Thick dividing memrane
- 2 amnions and 2 fused chorions
- Vascular connections almost never present
