Lewin’s three-step model:

a change model that has three sequential steps: (1) unfreezing, (2) moving, and (3) refreezing.


traditional action research model:

a five-step change model consisting of the following: (1) recognizing the need for change, (2) assessing/diagnosing the situation, (3) action planning, (4) the intervention, and (5) evaluation.


change agent:

an individual or a group from within or outside the police department that stimulates, guides, facilitates, and stabilizes the change process. directed change: a carefully planned, formal action designed to bring about a new condition.
