renal disease Flashcards
1
Q
define glomerulus filtration
A
blood filtered to form urine
2
Q
what are the 3 main internal structures of glomerulus filtration:
A
- Fenestrated endothelium: has pores endothelium with pores so BP forces
water, electrolytes, and waste products, to pass to glomerular capsule and into renal tubules for further reabsorption - Slit diaphragm and basement membrane stop large molecules like proteins and blood cells from entering (podocyte foot processes)
3
Q
what are podocyte foot processes?
A
barrier that allows small molecules to pass and stop large molecules form entering filtrate
4
Q
what is In situ immune complex in glomerlular nephritis?
A
- antigens are trapped in the glomerulus of kidney and get targeted by antibodies
- forms antigen-anitbody complexes
- deposition of it=inflammation
